Electronic health records (EHRs) can provide the full medical history of an individual from lab reports, to blood tests, to past surgeries, and much more. Not only are EHRs a convenient source of information, but also a potentially life-saving one. However, most EHRs only display text-based radiology reports and not the actual diagnostic images themselves.
As a result, many physicians are demanding access to imaging within the EHR. However, with many healthcare organizations housing their own IT systems and solutions, it becomes difficult for physicians to gain new insights or engage in collaborative care.
